Looking to slow things down after visiting the world’s fastest half-mile; the Bristol Motor Speedway? Grab the family and head into downtown Bristol for some live community theatre. Located in the heart of the city, Theatre Bristol holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously-run theatre in northeast Tennessee. It was established in 1965 by Cathy DeCaterina, who aimed to reach children performers and create family-friendly live productions. This remains the mission of Theatre Bristol volunteers today as they enter into their 53rd season!

Many of Theatre Bristol’s productions are performed in their ARTSpace, which seats up to 120 people. Other popular shows such as Annie, Scrooge!, And Les Misérables have been performed in Bristol’s historic Paramount Center for the Arts.

Some special offerings include a week-long camp during the month of July that allows children of all ages to develop a love for the arts. Through skits, improv and an exciting final production, youth gain teamwork skills and an increased sense of self-confidence.

If you enjoy high quality, live productions, be sure to check out Theatre Bristol’s website at for more information about the theatre’s upcoming shows and events. Come out and support local theatre; you will be surprised at just how much talent this community has!
